DESCRIPTION
What is Gems C Clear?
Gems C Clear is the pigment-free mask of Code Zero's The Gems Collection: it has the same base as the colour masks of the line, but contains no colorants. It is ready to use, without ammonia and without developer, and comes in a 400 ml format.
It is used to dilute the Gems shades: the more C Clear in the mix, the lower the intensity of the shade. It appears in 9 of the 31 official formulas of the Gems Colors Chart, from 50% to 95% of the mix, for the softer browns, coppers, reds, greens, blues and roses of the chart.

The starting base decides the colour
Gems C Clear does not lighten and adds no colour: it lowers the amount of pigment in the mix. The less pigment the mix deposits, the more the starting base shows through the result, so with mixes rich in C Clear the assessment of the base becomes even more decisive. The colours of the chart are shown on a light base.
How to assess the base
- Level: how light the hair is, on a scale from 1 (black) to 10 (lightest blonde). A mix with 90-95% C Clear deposits a light tint that shows best on very light hair; with 50% C Clear the mix keeps more intensity.
- Underlying pigment: with little pigment in the mix, a residual yellow or orange shows through and blends with the shade: a pastel rose on a yellow base turns warmer.
- Evenness: roots, lengths and ends can have different levels, and with a diluted mix each zone shows a different result.
- Porosity: lightened or treated hair takes up pigment faster than natural hair: start from the shortest processing time and check visually.

How to achieve the colours of the chart with C Clear
- Choose the formula on the Gems Colors Chart and assess the base: level, porosity and evenness, as described above.
- Lighten in the salon if the base is darker than the formula needs: the more C Clear in the formula, the lighter the base.
- Measure the percentages of the formula exactly and mix Gems C Clear and the Gems shades until even.
- Apply the mix to washed, towel-dried hair for 5 to 15 minutes, or to clean, dry bleached strands for 15 to 20 minutes, and rinse thoroughly.
- Finish with Stabilizer pH 3.5 as the last step.
With formulas rich in C Clear, a test on a hidden strand shows the result on the real base in advance.
How to use Gems C Clear
The label instructions apply to Gems C Clear and to the mixes made with it.
On washed hair
- Wash the hair and blot the excess water.
- Apply the colour mask and comb through.
- Leave on for 5 to 15 minutes according to the desired reflection intensity.
- At the end of the processing time, rinse thoroughly.
On previously bleached strands
- Apply the colour mask to clean, dry hair.
- Leave on for 15 to 20 minutes.
Pre-pigmentation
- Apply the colour mask to lengths and ends.
- Comb through.
- Remove the excess product.
- Proceed with the colour application, with or without ammonia.
Wear suitable gloves before application.

Does Gems C Clear need a developer?
No: it is a ready-to-use mask, without ammonia and without developer.
Does it lighten the hair or remove colour?
No: it contains no colorants and no lightening agents. It lowers the intensity of the shades it is mixed with.
Does it change the shade it is mixed with?
It adds no pigment of its own: it lowers the intensity of the mix. To change the direction of a shade, the chart formulas combine different Gems shades.
How much C Clear should be used?
The official formulas use from 50% to 95% C Clear; the percentages of each formula are in the table above and in the Gems Colors Chart.
What format is it?
400 ml, double the 200 ml of the Gems shades: in the official formulas it is often the largest part of the mix, up to 95%.
Which base does a mix with C Clear need?
The more C Clear in the mix, the lighter and more even the base must be: mixes with 90-95% C Clear give a light tint suited to very light hair.

Do not apply the product on sensitive, irritated or injured skin. Do not use to colour eyebrows or eyelashes. Do not use the product for any purpose other than colouring hair. Avoid contact with the eyes and face. In case of accidental contact, rinse the skin or eyes immediately with plenty of water. Wear suitable gloves before application. Shipping costs and delivery times
We ship with DHL Express in Switzerland.
Under CHF 99 shipping costs CHF 5.80. From CHF 99 it is free.
Orders received by 12:00 from Monday to Friday leave the same day. After 12:00 they leave the next business day. Friday afternoon and weekend orders leave on Monday.
All deliveries are made against signature on receipt. You receive the tracking link by email or SMS.
Damaged or uncollected parcels
If the parcel arrives damaged, report it within 48 hours: photograph the packaging and the products, keep the box for the carrier inspection, and send us the images together with your order number. We file the claim with DHL.
If a parcel comes back to us because of a wrong address, failure to collect within the deadline or refusal on delivery, both the carrier return costs and the original shipping fee are deducted from your refund.
Returns and refunds
You can request a return within 14 days of receipt, from the self-service area of your account or by writing to customer care.
For hygiene reasons we only accept products that are intact, unused and still sealed. If the seal is open or the product shows signs of use, the return is refused.
If the error is ours, the return is free. Otherwise return shipping is at your expense, 5% of the product price is withheld for logistics and quality control, and the original shipping fee is not refunded.
The refund is processed within 3 business days of the returned product being checked.
Subscription
On products that offer it you can set up automatic delivery every 30 or 60 days, with automatic billing. Subscribers have priority access to stock.
You can pause, skip a delivery, change address or payment method and cancel at any time from your account, with no penalty.
Changes must be made at least 48 hours before the next billing: once the order has been generated they no longer apply to that shipment.
Each order is billed at the price in force on that day.
